A narrow calculation on purpose

Useful for a fixed pattern, not every employment arrangement.

Baseline. GOV.UK says most workers receive 5.6 weeks of paid annual leave. When leave is measured in fixed, equal-length days, this is 5.6 times the days worked per week, capped at 28 days.

Simple pro-rating. This page applies the government guide's whole-month planning approach, then rounds up to the next half or whole day. It is useful for a straightforward joiner estimate, not a payroll decision.

Bank holidays and contracts. Whether bank holidays are included, plus any extra contractual leave, depends on the contract. This tool does not add, remove or decide them.

Check before relying on it

Use the official calculator for complex cases.

Irregular-hours, part-year, compressed-hours, shift and varying-day arrangements can need a different calculation basis. Worker status, leave-year dates, existing contractual terms and individual facts can also change the result.

This local estimate does not determine legal entitlement, holiday pay, eligibility, payroll treatment or a settlement on leaving employment.
