The planner removes the same edge margin from all four sides, then fits measured strips left to right. It adds the chosen gap only between strips, so a single strip does not require a gap on both outside edges.
Contact printing places a negative in physical contact with photographic paper. A darkroom guide from Yateley Darkroom gives film format and paper size as practical layout choices; use your own strips and paper as the deciding measurements.
