Use a finished measurement

Start from the block you actually made.

Each board is the measured text-block width and height plus two squares. The flat case layout is two board widths plus the measured spine thickness and two hinge gaps. Cover material then adds a turn-in on all four edges.

Measure after sewing or gluing, compression and final trimming—rather than estimating from page count or paper weight. Dry-fit a scrap when the exact case method, board, covering material, or opening behavior matters.

This planner does not select a binding method, determine a spine stiffener, account for sewing swell, choose board or cloth, assess adhesive, guarantee opening behavior, generate a cut file, or replace a test fit. It only organizes the measurements and allowances you enter.
